Presidential Candidate Barack Obama 60 Minutes Saw an interview with Barack Obama last night on sixty minutes. I like him. He openly admitted in the interview of smoking pot and using cocaine in his youth. I like that that candor. Personally, I don’t believe there is a single American, certainly not in politics, who has NOT, at least, smoked pot. I felt a rising joy as he spoke. Politicians, in general, turn my stomach as no one ever seems to tell the truth. Everything out of their mouths seems to be some politically correct, flag waving lie to cover their real agenda of making themselves wealthy through political influence and sway. I imagine Barack Obama is similar, or will be as his power grows, but for now I’m thrilled to hear such open honesty. He gets my vote, even though I don’t think America is ready for a black president. On the topic of the question, is America ready for a black president, let me retell a story I heard over the weekend. A white man and his wife adopted a black child. The black child was born of an addicted mother and father. The white man quietly adjusted his insurance at work to have an additional dependant. He already had two of his own children. During a staff meeting of twenty senior managers, the CEO of the company turned to the white man and said, “You are not really going to raise a nigger are you?” The CEO and all the senior managers are white. The company in question is extremely influential and during the last presidential election sent letters to the entire staff. In summary, the letter basically said, "If you do NOT vote Republican, we have a problem with you." Given these two incidents that I heard about just this weekend, I do not believe America will elect a black president.
