11/17/06 Mountains. 7:03 pm. Just spoke with Bee. She, Black Bear and Eva want me to take a nap. “Ah.” I said fondly. “That’s not for you baby. That’s for our own protection.” I heard the three laugh in the back ground. Ogre’s get more cranky if they don’t have enough sleep. I don’t need much these days. Six hours is about all I can do at stretch, but once I get past my limit, it’s like a light switch. I just fall asleep. Mostly while watching TV. While at dinner last night with MC and Princess, Bee mocked me to MC while Princess and I were outside smoking. We lamented about the entitlement of the legions of soccer moms with baby strolls that roam the streets of our town. Bee's mockery was centered around how they can all see the progress of the cabinet door that I’m repairing. I broke it a couple weeks ago when I was frustrated about work and the insipid bugs of technology. I work on a tight schedule and a twenty minute computer bug sends me through the roof. Couple that with nicotine withdrawl, and well, I punched the cabinet door just to hear something loud and violent, and broke it. So, I’m in the process of fixing it. In her mockery of me, she pointed out it wasn’t such a bad thing as it has hastened our discussions of renovating the kitchen. Bee is happy about that. “Now I get it.” MC said. “What?” “You and OG. How you work as a couple. OG acts like an idiot and you get stuff.” They laughed. -- Listening to NPR on the drive up, I learned that a the Mayor of Denver is paying any and all parking tickets that were given with in a six block radius of voting stations on election day. Wonder if he’ll actually pay out of pocket, or bury the cost in the cities books. Hmm. Nice gesture though. |
