Went to Blue Ribbon (a restaurant in SoHo) last night. It’s been around for years and the gang has been frequenting lately. Last night was my first time. Swell place. Very little, if any Manhattan pretense. The price points and décor we on par with a hip, snotty joint, as well as the food, but not the people. It’s my new favorite restaurant in The City. The steak tartar and duck were the best. Just, perfect. We also shared ...
fried rock shrimp sardines, fried chicken, rack of lamb and skate. Delicious. All of it. But the memory of the duck is making my mouth water for its medium rare flesh and red wine reduction. The rack of lamb was darn nice to. Black Bear’s fried chicken came with a small side of high grade honey that he only tasted. I was going to order a crème brulee to pull me out of my food-coma, but started eating the honey instead. That snapped me out of the food-coma long enough to get home without being to grumpy for sleep. Though, shortly after getting back in town, a retched smell attacked me. As I rolled down the window I said, “Who violated the car air space?” Black Bear said it was just the smell of Yuppy Town. But, he was wrong. The air outside rushed in and the smell went away. |
