Princess, MC, Bee and I went to dinner last night at Anthony David’s in Hoboken NJ. Nice joint. It’s a bit pricey for the quality of food, which was beneath Blue Ribbon in The City, but good. One perk is you can bring your own wine. In fact, you have to. They do not have a liquor license.. MC provided a pleasing burgundy with hints of graphite and sweet grape unlike most of pinot noir from California. (Burgundy is French pinot noir for those who do not know. I did not.) Of all the dishes, the foi gras delighted the most. I tried some on the house bread, but it was not as good as on the toasted slice of baguette it is served with. The service was polite and professional. We felt no elitism which the place has a reputation for. Our server even knew to serve the woman first. MC had the crispy duck, which was not rare enough. But then, for MC, the duck never seems to be rare enough. Princess enjoyed a lobster risotto. Bee ate the Chilean sea bass. I had the sirloin, of course. For the price, I would have preferred the shell steak at Zach’s. Overall we decided Anthony and David’s is good for dinner once in a great while. However, they have the best gourmet cheese selections in town. Visit Anthony Davids : http://www.anthonydavids.com/ |
